Despite having the automated logistics, sometimes the player wants to tell tables what their shelf is they should use manually. This may happen if the algorithm isn't thinking as far ahead or has individual flaws. Or the player just wants to have a particular setup.
In this case, it's possible to set on all tables that consume or produce items the preferred storage of input and output.
4 types of workplaces can have those preferred storages:
Preferred storages only work with the automatic logistic system!
To set certain storages to be undoubtedly used, you first need to toggle the option to see the input and output fields.
When those appear a shelf, pallet or whatever can hold items can be selected by clicking in one of those fields and then the target in the world. If there is enough space in the target storage to add the necessary rules, the icon of the storage will appear on the slot of the workplace panel.
If there are too many specific rules, the player will get direct feedback, letting him know that the storage has too many rules already.
Following rules can block the adding of preferred storage:
Selected storage may become invalid, for example, because the recipe on the table was changed. In this case, an error appears in the preferred storage setting.
Until the error is solved, automated logistics will take the next best storage instead of the selected one. So the production will continue, but not as expected.
